does the bios see the hard drive? does it come up with a menu for safemode, normal, vga mode, last known working configuration or what?

there is nothing about safe mode, i went BIOS and selected load fail-safe defaults, and now i am geting a screen that says select which operating system to start then imediatly flashes over to a new screen. says Windowws could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.
thats what it tells me, no idea what happend...

im at a point with it where i dont even have the option to reload windows, it wont boot from disk without going into this error. all i can do is go into bios, save and exit and then it will go restart and go right into the error message again.

make certain the rom drive is the 1st boot drive before the hd not after.

The cd drive might be dead which could be causing the cd to not boot, I had one go bad on me recently.

i put cd rom to load 1st, then it starts to load cd then asks me to choose something to setup gives me about 1 second to choose then goes right over to the error message.
