Hi! I purchased a new LG 22x dvdwriter, my problem is I cant play media files (audio/video/setup) if my Secondary IDE is on DMA. I always need to use PIO, but I cant burn anything using Nero 7 with it. Im using WinXP SP2 and the only device on the secondary ide is my dvdwriter, I already got 2 hard drive on my primary IDE. What do I need to do for my dvdwriter to play media files and for me to be able to burn using Nero? And why is it that my dvdwriter would only play files if its on PIO and not on DMA? Im new into this stuff, so please help me.

Check that all connections are secure. Check your jumper settings. Check your bios.
What type of computer do you have?
    Can you provide the specs?
It's also possible that the new burner is defective and may need to be exchanged.

Did you have a previous burner on the channel that did work? Are you using an 80 wire cable? If set to Master, try it on CS, Cable Select.

Most DVD like to be set as a master.
    Cable(80 wire)is important.
I would set both HD on one channel (master, slave) and DVD on secondary channel as master.
CS setting for DVD writer may experience a problem.

I already tried changing the jumper settings to master, primary CS and tried taking out the clip. Still doing the same thing, tried returning the bruner to the store but once they plug it in on their pc it was able to read media right away. had a previous burner and was able to use it without any problem, tried using it again and still works. Im not using the 80 wire cable. Do I need to replace the IDE cable? Whats the difference between PIO and DMA?
