I recently upgraded to Nero 7.5.7.0 from 7.0.8.2. Prior to upgrading, I uninstalled the older version of Nero and used Nero's Drive Clean Tool, Registry Checker, and General Clean Tool 2.1.5.17 to clean out all traces of Nero on my computer. The older version of Nero was using Showtime 2.x.xx which gave me no problems. The newer version of Nero uses Showtime 3.2.3.0. When I first started using the new Showtime I was unable to play any DVDs. (I had no problem with PowerDVD) I kept getting a message of an unexpected error. After doing some searching on a couple of forums, I tried one of the suggested fixes which involved changing the Bookmark Editor in the Option Menu from "Nero DVD Navigator" to "Microsoft DVD Navigator." This modification enabled me to play DVDs with Showtime. Even though the DVDs play flawlessly, I'm getting a weird message every time I insert a new DVD. The message reads "Functionality not available - Missing features: DTS HD decoding. Nero 7 cannot perform the requested action as this functionality is currently not supported by Nero. ..." All of the DVDs were Dolby Digital 5.1 and did not have DTS Audio. Why would this be happening? One other thing. Showtime reports that all the DVDs have Dolby Digital 6 Channel, while Power DVD reports Dolby Digital 5.1. My older version of Showtime also reported Dolby Digital 5.1. Could this have anything to do with the message I'm getting? Thanks,
I have no answer, but my Showtime doesnt play any dvd's I burn either. I just figured it was because of the booktype I have my NEC set to. PowerDVD does indeed work here too.
If PowerDVD plays your DVDs, then Showtime should also play them. Booktypes are only important for some older DVD players (& some newer Toshibas) that can't recognize DVD +R. or DVD +RW.
I get those DTS HD decoding messages also. I never actually looked it up, but I just figured it was some new feature that Nero had not added yet, or possibly something on my computer was not up to that task. Maybe it is something Nero has added and my computer can't do DTS HD audio. They did start adding HD capability a few updates ago. My DVD's play fine otherwise. Maybe I will have to get an HD DVD player to check it out!! ;-) Oh, I have't had to use the Navigation change for the last several versions of Showtime.
