Have revenge of the sith, shouldnt i know! (went to see it at cinema twice tho b4 i got it!!!!) Managed to convert and burn to dvd, but when played back on dvd it is very very pixely and blocky..can i smooth this out, to get rid of blockiness? if so what software? (other than tmpeg!)... also aspect ratio isnt right, its stretched upwards, want to goto 16:9 format as well. Anybody?
ive seen the quality of those releases and the are terrible anyway, cam rips. when you play them on your tv i dont expect it to get any better. try 'vso divx to dvd ' its free and if you get the same pixelation, then its obviously down to your source. i dont understand why peple like cam rips. there horrible.
No, they are Workprints and Telecines out, no cams! The workprint had an aspect issue, but you can fix it easily if you know how (I don't particularly know). The Workprints had two massive timers at the top and the Telecine has sync issues. The timers have been removed from my Workprint and has caused a cropped widescreen and as yours, is blocky, there is no fix for the blocks, that's the source, can't get it any better.
ok thanx guys... yeh its the VISA workprint, I can remove the timers.. few people at work has sith on dvd, same copy with timers at top of screen, but they say they have no blocks. Is this coz i downloaded it and theres was copied from elsewhere, why is theres smoother? I have seen on vcdquality.com that there are 2 or 3 workprints ripped by various groups...with out aspect probs..is it possible my mates have the workprint by another group and not the VISA one I have??
Oh, also i used Vso to dvd as u suggested, tried that before, same pixelisation..also told the software to force the aspect to 16:9 when it converted, seemed to do it when it was converting (coz the preview window changed size) but when it was played on the dvd thro my pc or my standalone player, the aspect ration hadnt changed!?! anyone??? gunna go c it again anyway! just wanted sumthin to watch until I but the dvd!!!
It is possible they have the other copies, but the other copies are from the same source but encoded to the correct AR. You can crop the timers out quite easily. The blocks are caused as the video has been ripped and re-encoded from the source. I suggest waiting for the TC repack so it is in sync, will be better in all aspects.
If you crop the timers, you lose 30% of the video. Use the logoaway filter in virtualdub (google it), to remove the timers, then use the resize filter to adjust the aspect (it's 7% too tall BTW), then frameserve to tmpgenc, Canopus, or Mainconcept.
