Problem with some AVI files not supported by PS3..

    Lately I've stopped converting avi to dvd format so I can place about 5 movies on a disc. I usually have good luck running avi on my ps3 to watch the movies. However some avi movie files say that it's not files not supported. Anybody know anything about this problem?

    The .avi file could be divx. Download Gspot, bring in your trouble .avi file, and see what codecs you need, if any.

    I know nothing about ps3, but maybe it doesn't accept divx files.

    I have found a number of avi files that look like they should play on the PS3, but do not (using mediatomb).

    In general, I can fix the avi using the following command (on debian):

    mencoder broken_on_ps3.avi -ovc copy -oac mp3lame -lameopts q=3 -msglevel all=4 -o fixed_for_ps3.avi
