I too also had an iPod Mini and got a Video for Christmas. All i did was just plug in my Video into the same library as the Mini's and got all the songs into the iPod Video. I didn't have to install any new software. Try deleting and reinstalling?

Uninstall the old itunes and install the new one. Then if you want your song on your new itunes, get your ipod mini and connect to the pc. Once it has been detected go to my computer and look for it in one of the drives. Click on it. On the top go to tools then folder options. Then go to view, and locate the tab that says show hiiden files and activate it. The go back to the ipod mini. There should be a folder called ipod control. Click on it. Locate the folder called music. Copy it and paste somewhere. Go to new itunes , file add folder to library. Locate the music folder. Thre you have it.

    Hope it helps
