hi You can try and flash it with the clone software, take a look and read this link, all is there. http://www.freewebs.com/dooby2oon/ jbvid
Sounds like your have a SV1 and it has been flashed with "The Box", (SV 2), firmware. You need to verify if you have a SV 1 or The Box secondly if you have an SV1 you need to see if you have a clone or genuine one, press SV EV info and the end of my post you will find info there to help you decide. After that let us know and all you have to do is follow the bad flash procedure, (which I will give you), with the correct firmware.
thanks lads for answering, definitely have a clone just compared it to what you showed me.is there anything i can do to retrieve it need advice thank you john
Hi Take a look here on how to recover from a bad flash http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/531363/3215755 Then here for the clone files you will need to reflash it. http://dooby2oon.4shared.com/ jbvid
You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F. Null modem info http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6 If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable. USB Adapter info http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx...t10&doy=search&MenuName=USB to Serial Adaptor These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay. All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos Library. You will need the GTromloader, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starview software folder of the link. You will need version 2.57_FIXED firmware for CLONES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder. And please download the Starvi*w PDF guide,(similar instructions, this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starvi*w Documentation folder in the link.
sorry lads for not getting back sooner i have been working got the null modem cable .how do i get into the starview software folder only learning how to use the computer, john
Go to this site and download the following files in RED to your desktop Eamo's Library http://eko.4shared.com/ You will need the GTromloader, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starview software folder of the link. You will need version 2.57_FIXED firmware for CLONES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder. When you have the files downloaded , follow this guide below Updating Firmware Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY. (The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM) Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC. Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC. Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starview will then reboot Turn off and turn back on , then plug your tv cable and scart back in
sorry for not getting back sooner, had no port on my computer and had to bring it to work to use on computer in there done every thing you said to do but the gt rom would not download. one of my friends tried it for me and he knows about computers and still no joy. the green light on my starview just runs accross once and stops with one green light left on it ,should this happen when on standby.
Download the GT ROM Loader again and use the bad flash guide here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/531363
