problem with xp pro(i think its windows)

    ok anytime i put a dvd in my drive it says

    i am starting to think my widows is messing up, cuz i can't read regular disks either and an error message comes up, i don't remember the error message number exactly but it was 17** and i forget the last 2 numbers. so can any 1 help?

    Go into Device Manager and remove your DVD-ROM and reboot and let windows install it again. Or just reinstall winblows that always does the trick ;-)

    before i uninstall it how do i reinstall it.

    go to Start-> Control Panel-> System-> Hardware-> Device Manager. locate your drive, uninstall it, and reboot your computer. let windows locate and reinstall your drive and see if that fixes it.

    write down & post the error code. is there an exclamation mark in device manager??
