I am having a problem with my computer, i think it is a virus or something which has caused this problem.

The problem is that when i go on my account No icons show up on the desktop and neither does my task bar (start menu). The only way to run programs is to use task manger. On the other account on my computer it is fine it only does it to my account. I would just use the other account but I have tons of music, pictures and videos on my profile which is a pain. And i could just transfer it across but i'd prefer to have my account back.

Does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance

By the way i am using windows XP

    Hi Jonnie1,

Sounds like may be an explorer Shell problem..

If so, you probably will have the icons and task bar in the Safe Mode.
Check this by rebooting your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Here is a registry fix that should work if you can download and run it in the account with problems.

    shellfix.reg

    hope that helps
