I got a Intel Core i3 cpu gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H motherboard CORSAIR 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model VS2GB1333D3 G Western Digital Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W ATX12V V2.2 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply compatible with core i7 Geforce 9500 GT Graphics Card It worked fine for awhile then I got another Ram same as the above so that I would have 4gb and all of a sudden it restarts itself. It will stay on for awhile if I am not doing anything but if I watch a movie or something like that it shuts down and restarts. So I took the ram back out and it still does the same. I took it into a computer store and they said it was the graphics card and that it should work if I take that out. So I did and it still does the same thing. Any ideas?
Sounds more like a PSU problem. I would ask the store if they tested the PSU. I dont trust anything with OCZ on it. If possible, see if a friend has a PSU you could borrow. If it runs fine with another PSU then do yourself a favor and pick up this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139003 Its about 3 amps or so short of the OCZ but much higher quality.
Go into your computer management (Right click 'computer' and hit 'Manage') and go to your event logs, see if anything crops up in there about any errors.
Many years ago i had the same problem and tried many different things. Replaced the memory the graphic card even asked for help on AD and got some good advise. In the end i worked the issue out myself it was a faulty pin on the cpu which when i took the cpu back to the supplier they replaced and the issue was resolved.
Sometimes it can be an issue you that you never normally come across. Once you have ventured all the common issues sometimes you have to dig deeper to resolve this issue.
Power supply. Not enough power to power the board and the graphics card. If your graphics card requires 300 watt power supply and your power supply is only 400 watts you need at least a 800 watt to 1000 watt to get enough power 400 watts wont cover it sorry
sam, 2nd that. megadunderhead, where do you see 400w psu as SteveRotter states "OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W ATX12V V2.2 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply compatible with core i7"?
