    Hi all.

I have had this problem for a few weeks now and I thought. If you have a problem got to the best people to help. So that is you guys.

I had a pioneer dvr-108 burner and everything was going fine then all of a sudden it wouldn't burn. I normally use alcohol 120%, But everytime I tried to back up something or burn a cue file it would get to about 3% and then my pc would freeze up.

So i thought I would try nero. Using nero would be able to read the disk but when it came to burning it. it would get to about 25% and then the buffer level bar and the one above it would drop down to zero and then start back up, but the drive stopped burning. I thought my Burner was broke so I brought a new pioneer dvr-110 but I am still having the same problems. I have updated the aspi and firmware. I just dont know what to do now.

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated

    Thanks

    Liverp

I know I multi-posted. But I also realised that my first post about this was posted in the wrong forum. I am sorry about that.

I didnt realise it was such a crime.

    I wont bother again

if you know you have posted in the wrong forum rather than post in the right forum, let a mod or an addict know so that we can get it moved to the right area.I'm not here to tell you off i'm just pointing out the way the board runs and to make sure that you

    1.get your questions answered
    2.you understand the rules
3 hopefully have an enjoyable experience and want to come back for more.

Your question and about moving it has been raised with the mods ,so it should be moved shortly and the other thgread you started or this one will be closed.

    Now as to your question!

    what media are you using?
did the burner work before you updated the firmware?
    do you get error messages?
    can you produce the nerologs?

Sorry I replied a bit sharpest. This probllem is now getting on my nerves.

1.I have been using 8X Printable G05 RITEK DVD-R. I have always used then and never had a problem before.

    2. The burner stopped working before I updated the firmware. Thats why I updated it.

    3. I dont get any error messages. Nero keeps going. The progress bar just stops and the green light on my burner stops. I have to manually shut down nero.

    4. I will produce a nero log tomorrow as I have no Media left. Some more will arrive tomrrow

    Thanks

don't worry about producing another log, the burns append to c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, so you can just post the LAST section but not your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar... the logfile will most likely be sufficient to get you burning, then when the new discs arrive you can just do 'simulation' burns thus not writing to any discs 'til your settings are all sorted...

    @Liverp -

that Rotary, he's like a speed demon!..

    - too old, update to latest, 6.6.0.16

    - firmware's out of date, 1.17 is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2140

    - question mark meams burner is either external, Usb or whatever, or your atapi drivers have been mislaid

    - yup, Nero's too old to recognise your burner, update firmware

    - reload the nvidia motherboard drivers as DMA needs to be ON

    - 512mb is sufficient total memory. for info, close down more programs prior to any burns to free up memory

    - oh dear, CMC Magnetics should be banned from producing dvd media, their discs are utter rubbish. buy decent media

    - just checking, did you know you're not 'closing' or 'finalising' the disc

    - splat!

@Rotary - cheers buddy, it does take ages to format the replies. i've dropped a hint to the admins that i'd like to see some forum functionality that allows you to do the quotes and stuff via buttons instead of typing it all.

i'm not going anyway anytime soon, you keep around too, your help is always needed by moir...

I love you guys. It will get started on that straight away. The only thing i am worried about is the media I use. I have used this type all the time and never had a problem.

    But thanks.
