Hi everyone. I just bought an HP dvd-840i (LG-4166b?) burner a couple of days ago. And it seems to be burning the dvds fine, but I am having some problems burning cds. With Nero, I get a "track following error" message about halfway into the burn. The 1st cd i tried to burn did this, then I tried to update the firmware which is now HI86 (it was FF66) and I tried to burn it again. This time it burned OK, so I figured the problem was fixed. Then the 3rd cd I tried gave me the same error. I was trying to update the firmware with LG firmware but it is not letting me, though I've heard of people being able to do it. So now im thinking about returning the burner and maybe trying the same kind of burner again. But I don't think the burner is defective, maybe its just the model itself. Has anyone else had similar problems with this burner, or just this problem in general and knows how to fix it? Thanks.
I have a HP 740 series DVD writer and out of the eight DVD writers that I own ... it is by far the biggest POS the ONLY thing that I use it for is to burn LightScribeâ„¢ labels .. I'd recommend returning the HP and purchasing a BenQ or a Plextor
My HP DVD640b writer started malfunctioning just a week ago. Whenever I try to burn something on Nero, it freezes at 5%.
