Hi, I've been having problems burning data dvd's in nero. I thought it was the software, so I downloaded some burn4free program which also gave me an error. I have been able to burn cd's and video dvd's fine. I can also play cd's and dvd's fine. I have a Matshita UJ-840D drive which I can't find firmware to update. I'm not a computer expert so I'm not sure what to do next. Below is the log of my last try. Thanks so much, hopefully someone can help! Hi, is this in a laptop...a sony by any chance?I have an 832d in mine and there aint no firmware updates.Dont you just love sony.Anyway it would look like your burners dead, but just out of interest, download imgburn and see if it works. If it doesnt burn with this then id say its time to bury it
hi thanks for your reply actually its a hp pavilion dv4270ca i will try what you suggested and let you know so you think its dead even though it burns other kinds of cds and dvds? i don't get that!
I have the same drive in a HP and nope there aren't any firmware updates for it. Once it once used to burn fine cd or dvd wise - is now pretty hit or miss with it. Hence I also have an external burner If you can get it to burn different media than stick w/ that - it doesn't like the ones you are using which are made by Ritek. Mine doesn't either.
