I get an error halfway through burning dvd data discs. This happens with nero 7.x, 6.x, and cdburnerxp. I started with a LG burner model gh15L (sata), took that out and replaced with pioneer 107D (ide), and still have the same issue. I used a couple tweak programs to try to speed up windows and now the burning wont start at all. My next two ideas are to reinstall windows or mess with bios settings. Included are the 2 logs from nero 7 and 6, maybe someone that understands them can see what the problem is?? thanks. The only thing in common on the logs is the Ritek disks. The pioneer has firmware available - but I doubt that's the problem. Try burning the disks with ImgBurn (it has a 'Test Mode' check box on the main screen to save disks). Im using memorex now, ill pick up a few verbatim and see if that helps. Simulation mode works fine but when i go to actually burn it fails. The drive, either drive I try, will read but not write, which leads me to belive this is a software/windows issue.
Also keep in mind that you have a 5 year old 8x burner trying to burn on 16x media. This can be a problem when the burner cannot detect the proper write strategy. Try using 8x media with the firmware version 1.22.

I am having somewhat similar problem with my HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH15L DVD drive. I just recently bought a Pinnacle Dazzle Instant DVD burner. Everything is fine, except it seems that the VHS tape outruns the DVD burner, and quite a chunck of the vedio is dropped from recording. It seems that DVD drive is probably running at a slower speed that it should. I am using a 4X 4.7 Gb DVD disks to burn the videos in this drive. What am I doing wrong?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Neil
