I am useing nero vision express 3.1.0.7. I transcode once to save time, and my problem is that when nero transcodes the movie before burning it for some reason unknown to me it freezes on the last part of the movie..soooo close to being done. I shouldnt say freezes cause the program will respond, and task manager doesnt indicate that it has froze up. the current progress shows that its done but its like it wont let it totaly finish in order to proceed to the burning part. I can let it run all day and it wont finish. plese help me, i would add a log file but i dont get one cause i dont get any errors and it never completes.

What kind of files are you transcoding? avi, divx? Have you tried any other programs? avi2dvd, etc.?

It's possible there's an error in the mpeg file that's being transcoded and that's causing Nero to choke. However if the error is popping up at different points in the encoding process, then that's not likely the cause of the problem. How are you generating the mpeg files? What is the source? Are you just backing up a dvd? How much memory does your computer have?

I have (512MB of RAM), I use vdc gear to convert bin/cue files to mpeg. Then I use nero to burn them. I tried to make an svcd, and vdc and I can make those so I know its just something thats wrong with the dvd option. What other programs can i use that are like nero vison express, maybe a different program would help.

TMPGEnc can burn dvd's also? I heard that dvdit was a good program also. I just might give up on nero...

If you're just looking for a burning program, DVD Decrypter burns image files and is my burning program of choice. Almost all DVD authoring programs will generate iso image files for burning which is the only type of file DVD Decrypter will burn.

By the way, have you tried having NVE just create an image file on your hard drive instead of burning. I always have problems with NVE whenever I've had it encode and burn in a single step. I hate NVE but when I have to use it, I generate an image file on the hard drive that I subsequently burn with DVD Decrypter or Nero Burning ROM.

Well, Salty, we all have had to learn by doing. :) That's why we're here. Keep asking questions and for help as you need it. Someone will nearly always have an idea and be willing to help. Happy burning!

I also have this problem. My Nero stops when it is preparing to transcode or near the end while it is transcoding. It is always in the same two spots when it stops. Help?

ok I'm looking for a better way to burn my movies..My old process was useing winrar to extract bin/cue files then useing vcd gear to convert to mpeg files. Then after that useing nero vision express to burn a dvd-r. I hear you guys talk about iso files, vob, video_ts and all that stuff but I dont understand what that all is. I recently got nero burning rom, thinking maybe this was easyier but its not,,,lol. Like it gives me the option to make (DVD-Rom ISO)..(DVD-Video)..(DVD-Rom Boot)..(DVD-Rom UDF)..(DVD-Rom UDF/ISO) and I dont know whats the difference. I just want to burn a movie...now I'll go cry in the corner for a while.

That looks simple, I just have one question. What program do I need to convert and create vob files, bup, and ifo files from my mpeg movies. I noticed those are the files that I am suppoed to drag over to the Video_TS folder. From what you showed me it looks like I was doing it right, except the only thing that was messing me up was that I was trying to drag just a plain mpeg folder (part 1, and Part2) into the Video_TS folder. And I would get an error saying it wasnt a compliant files. I was also wondering about the audio, I didnt see no audio files to be added, just video. But your step by step did help alot...thank you.

So this divxtodvd will convert and give me the vob, ifo, and bup files? I'm only asking cause in the picture those are the kind of files that are being used.
