Hi all, Would have posted earlier but had lazy bug. kisielews, Try this proggy to ID your media. Very simple no adverts and free as well. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ Just load your blank (or burned) media in your dvdrw, open dvdidentifier and click on identify. Did your phillips drive come in a dell system by any chance? Have read of many problems with those drives in dell systems. I don't have any experience with crossflashing phillips to benq firmware but have read of very good results. I have crossflashed lite-on's with different model/ version f/w many times. My litey 1653 is really a 1633 with 1653 patched f/w and led fix. Made it a much better drive. I would recommend crossflashing your drive to a benq. Better drive imo and you can then also utilize their free booktype utility manager. I really like my benq and use it for all burning and use the litey primarily for ripping and scanning (faster ripper than benq and I like kprobe scan utility only for litey's and rebadged litey's). I think my buddy creaky gave you the link for the crossflash but you can find it and other good info here. http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=92 Mort
nope, not the original DVD, the burnt one, though now i remember on page 1 you said you were using verbatims. so.... we're back to firmware.... a bit more searching and i found more answers on the crossflashing question - from none other than mort81 - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/200166 - i was posting a bit on that one too, but forgot about the crossflash bit; i post far too much you see...... Anyway have a read thru his comments and see what you think. It's your drive you see, so the final decision has to be yours as it 'might' affect warranty..
Not that he wil be of any help Give us an ID of your media anyway just for $hits and giggles. Probably ok but easy to rule out with ID.
to mort- my phillips drive came with my dell dimension 8400. to both of u- please, i know ur using ur free time to help me but i barely have a clue with wat ur talkin about, ur both sayin different stuff, oh comeon i am lost...
ok, lets make a decision. are you worried about returning drive under warranty in future if it breaks for some unexplained reason ? if not, we will look into the crossflash a little bit more and hopefully get on with it... ...to transform your burner into a different make - a Benq DW1620, which should be better at burning basically
i really am talking english now!. do as Mort says, then..... we want YOU to tell us if YOU'RE happy re the warranty question. ie If you ever have to have your burner fixed under warranty anytime in future, WE don't want you to have problems if Dell or whoever tell you to bugger off because you've effectively turned your drive into a different branded burner. They'd just say you broke it by giving the drive a sex change and transforming it info one of these - http://www.sweclockers.com/html/recension/sju_dvd_brannare/kartong_benq_stor.jpg
the media id is- MCC (and i really dont want to change anything on my computer, ill download softwear but that is about it...)
...then i suspect you won't be burning anything again ? we can sort this out if you bear with us.....
ill try to "bear with you", I'm going to try to burn it again in like 10 or 15 minutes. Maybe ill wait till u guys find somethin or ill just burn it tommorrow and then ill see wat a "newbie" can do... I got a question for u 2- wat would the dvd shrink do if the disk i am tryin to burn is larger than the disk i am burning it on?
i'd be lying if i said this isn't wearing me down a bit. i don't think me or Mort can be any clearer ??...
- you didn't tell me that before. You need to use Shrink to shrink the contents so that it fits on a blank disc.............
i dont think u can be any cleare and i dont think i can understand wat u guys are talkin bout so...just tell me that uve had enough, and ill understand...
