Please help. Fairly new to this forum, I've used the avi to dvd guide on this site and have created my vob, ifo and bup files.

I then use nero 6 to burn the dvd ( I again used the guide on this site) Trouble is, at 1% nero hangs and displays a message stating - RESET OCURRED. It then states the burning has failed.

I'm using an external dvd rewriter which I've used to create data discs using nero 6 so I cant understand what the problem is?!

I'm going mad, please please help.....

hey redders, welcome to AD,try this.

open nero burn express, then open your vob files folder location, click and drag your entire folder to the VIDEO_TS folder in burn express, ignore the AUDIO_TS folder. Click next choose your destination, burner, HD, etc., hit burn, should work fine if there's nothing wrong with your files.

Nero burn express is right below burning rom in the startsmart menu. good luck!

    Thanks for the swift reply.

I've tried using nero express before, I choose the dvd-video files option. I then click add my files and open the directory with my files in. It doesnt matter whether I click on each file individually or select them all and click add, nero just sits their and does nothing.....

    Hi guys!

redders, If it screws up again, can you post a Nero burn log? Also is your external on a USB 2.0 and not a 1.1?

BigO, I am about brain dead from Premiere Pro, but what an awsome program for DV! I'm gonna give it a rest and just chill here.

BTW redders, If you do post a log file, just make sure you don't post the registration number. I always forget to tell folks that and then they have to go back and edit their post.

hmmm... try click and drag, if that doesn't work, I suspect the problem is in your files. One sure way to find out, use them with another application and see what happens. Also use RW's til the problem is corrected.

Hey frank, I've cooled off my project, I need to make sure what i use will play in all standalones.

I'm gonna spend a few minutes going over the log. You may want to consider a newer version of Nero though.

    Nero version: 6.0.0.9

    I'll be back!

    Hi,

You may want to double check that the USB controller your connecting your burner to is listed as "enhanced" in Device Manager :)

It sure looks like Nero is having trouble with the burner interface, just look at those buffer size problems...
    Also this:
Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ?

I'd do a clean install at this point and go from there, that seems to cure Nero problems sometimes.

Maybe uninstall the USB controller and reboot first though. What do you guys think? Neph, is that resonable?

Have you by any chance got roxio running on your computor....You see there is a little conflict between the 2 companies which they didn't tell anyone about before we bought the software.

Ihad the same problem as you, hanging on 1% and wasting cd's. After uninstalling Roxio and nero then reinstalling nero the problem ceased

Right, Fasfranks suggestion. Removed nero and uninstalled the usb controller (i think). Then installed nero 6.3.1.17, I now have a different error message but still hangs at 1% - it states "SCSI Command Aborted" "Could not perform end of disc at once".

To philsquiz, I did have roxio installed but have since uninstalled both roxio and nero and just have nero installed now.

    Anybody, please help.......

redders, when you uninstalled roxio it is possible remnants remained. It tends to do this. You need to uninstall nero again, then run a registry cleaner and then reinstall nero and see if that won't clear it up.

philsquiz is right, they fight like cats and dogs on some PC's and roxio has a nasty habit of clinging even after an uninstall.

There are several registry cleaners out there at no cost that will do the job and clean your HD and internet files as well. I like "BeClean"-http://boozet.xepher.net/beclean

does an excellent job. good luck

If everything else fails it may be worth running your project through DVDshrink (using the "no compression setting" and setting the Target as "ISO disc image". Then use DVD decrypter to burn it. IE by pass nero altogether.

Uninstalled nero, ran the registry cleaner and reinstalled nero, still the same problem!??!

However, tried Brian100's suggestion to use dvd shrink and dvd decrypter which worked a treat. Dvd decryptor still came up with a 'reset occured' error similar to nero but allowed me to retry. DVD then continued to burn lovely and works fine.

Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions.

    Excellent Forum.......

Pleased it worked. To remove all of the old nero remnants you can download a simple little tool from the Nero website. "Nero Clean Tool"

The direct link, i tried to post, does not work. But if you enter "Nero uninstall tool" as a search parameter on "Google" it will be top of the list.

PS make sure you have your Nero serial number safe & locked away BEFORE you run the app.
