I know that this is probably a simple question but....I have a soft modded xbox and want to connect it to my pc to ftp files back and forth. I am using flash fxp and have direct connected the xbox to the pc NIC via a cross over cable. Windows acknowledges the network connection but when I type in the ip 192.168.0.35 username and passoword, fxp just says that no connection is present. I have checked the ip address, even changed it to try and make it work. I have used straight and cross over cables to try that - I was wondering if it could be my Network card being incompatible in some way? It connects to the net fine via ntl set top box. I have considered using a router but this shouldn't make a diffeence should it? Any answers would be appreciated.
can you check that your static ip address is set to YES assuming you've got evox dashboard? you can access it in system management or whatever
ip is set to static. I don't need to reconfigure my network settings on the PC by any chance do i? My ip is assigned by DHCP automatically by ntlworld - however while I have the direct connection its not attached to the modem/set top box so it shouldn't matter as I understand it.
You'll have to go to the settings of your PC NIC card and set the IP of the card to 192.168.0.1 then the mask to 255.255.255.0... now on the xbox choose whatever IP you want for it then set the mask to 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway to 192.168.0.1 ... now you'll be able to connect to your XBOX with flashfxp with the IP you've set in evox!
