I've been using Avidemux 2.4. I like it because it allows me to add black borders to the top/bottom of the video. Problem is, it keeps crashing if I convert a MKV (h264) to anything else. Sometimes I get lucky, mostly not. Anyone know any other ways to convert and add in the borders?
Well, using AVIdemux is contingent upon the video file being an AVI file, when it's not. What does AviDemux do, actually? Never having used it, I'm guessing it converts it to DVD? Anyway, what you CAN use is probably Avisynth to frameserve the .mkv to Avidemux. Maybe that'll help... maybe.
