When I try to edit out clips in nerovision it tells me the file size is too large. I am trying to edit an mpeg i imported with my tv tuner. I am using the latest Nero 7. Any ideas on how to actually edit?

When you are on the content page, do you show DVD on the bottom right of the window? In the total space used area, how much does it say it needs. If you have DVD selected, you might be able to change the quality settings and get more on the DVD. If you hold the mouse over the file it will give you your output settings.

To get information about the file itself, go to the editing window with the timeline and hold the mouse over the file. That will give you the specifics on the file itself.

I don't know about this particular error, but you might try setting the DVD to DVD-9 if you have that option to give yourself more room. You think you could put as large file as you want in as long as you edited enough out, but that may not be the case.

You might also try, if you have the time, to export the file which will put it in a DVD ready format. Maybe it would work then.

Anyway, let us know the specifics about the file and maybe we can try it.

let me explain a little bit more. I have a video clip that i imported using my tv tuner card. It is encoded as mpeg2. the entire clip is 11.7 gigs. What i want to do is edit out some parts of the clip. when i try to do this i get the messege "the cut region you selected is too large. the remaning segments would become invalid. press okto continue in cut mode, or cancel to abort the cut operation. I am trying to cut out 6 seconds from the beginning of the clip. i want to output the dvd file to the hd so i have the dvd-9 selected and have succesfully outputed a dvd of this after cutting it in half, however even at the half state it still says file to large for cutting. any ideas and thanks

I'm not the expert here, but what size will an 11 gig mpeg2 file be after it is encoded. I would guess that is too large even for a DL disk.

Other than that, are you sure you are cutting the correct part? Try just using the slice tool and cut where you want then delete the smaller piece. If you have tried that and you have the file backed up, go ahead with the operation just to see what happens!
