So i've finally connected my xbox to my pc via crossover cable and ip addresses. but when i try to connect to the server via SmartFTP, this is what i get:

    [12:51:49] Connecting to 198.192.0.4 Port: 21
    [12:51:49] Connected to 198.192.0.4.
[12:52:10] An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
[12:52:10] Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)...
    [12:52:10] Server closed connection
[12:52:57] Continue to login attempt 2...
    [12:52:57] Resolving host name "198.192.0.4"
    [12:52:57] Connecting to 198.192.0.4 Port: 21
    [12:52:57] Connected to 198.192.0.4.
[12:53:18] An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
    [12:53:18] Server closed connection

i'm using "xbox" for the login and password. My xbox has a modchip and evoX dash.

Also....the xbox ring flashes between and orange color and a green color, and it's shuts itself off after about 2-3 minutes after i turn it on once i connect it to the pc.

Please help, i must be close. thx.

What are the numbers on your pc ethernet settings?

Don't put a gateway in your pc settings. Finally 198.192.x.x isn't a normal internal IP..

If you have set up for lan networking the pc will have automatically assigned in the 192.168.x.x region (default is 192.168.0.1) make the xbox part of the same subnet.. i.e. 192.168.0.100.

Finally check that FTP is in fact enabled on the xbox dash.

Green-orange flash and shutdown.. do you have the video cable connected?

Do you have the av cable hooked up to the xbox. Orange and green flashing is usually a video error.

I do not have the video cable hooked up.

I'm using an ip address of 198.192.0.4 on the pc's lan ip and the xbox ip.

i'm not sure if the subnets match, i'll try it.

    thx

Just checked...the subnets are the same (255.255.x.x)and there is no gateway address.

are you saying i should not use 198.192.0.4 for the ip's?

When I ftp I have to have the xbox turned on and connected to the computer before i turn the computer on. It wont connect if I dont do this. Be sure that your using a cross over cable and your fire wall is turned off.
