I have an (empty) AUDIO_TS folder along with a VIDEO_TS folder containing *.IFO, *.BUP, & *.VOB files on my hard drive that I downloaded via BitTorrent. I am having difficulty in converting this to a working DVD that plays in my Stand-alone DVD Player. I have Nero Vision Express 3, Nero Express 6, DVD Shrink, DVD Decryptor software packages. When I double-click on the VIDEP_TS.IFO file on my hard drive - Nero Showtime pops up and plays this (psuedo) DVD with expected menu behavior. IE: Everything works. I am able to mouse-click on menu items which in turn plays the sub-menu or video object. It behaves (in Nero Showtime) as I would expect it to behave - all menu items work as intended. Now, I want to burn this to DVD (either DVD-R or DVD+R: I have both). However, when using Nero Vision Express 3 (either "making a movie" OR "adding video files") the final burned DVD does not "behave" as it does while on my Hard Drive. None of the menus "work" as expected. Also - when either making a movie or adding video files to my "project" - ONLY *.VOB files show up in the Supported Files List and Not the VIDEO_TS.IFO files. When using Nero Vision Express3, it seems like I am forced to use one of their menu templates and none of the menus included in the VIDEO_TS folder. (Maybe I am missing something here when it comes to making menus with Nero Vision Express) The DVD I end up getting is one where the menus are just like any other "video object" and not "functional" as a menu. In fact what I get is the first menu plays for about 30 - 50 seconds (as long as the time it takes to "repeat" itself), the the 2nd sub-menu, then the 3rd sub-menu, ect . . ., then the actual "movie" video object (about 55 minutes) What software can I use to burn this VIDEO_TS folder (along with an empty AUDIO_TS folder) so that it works as a DVD "should" - with the included menu items working as intended ? I tried using the method suggested by an AfterDawn guide whereby I covert my VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS Folders to an ISO Image, then used DVD Decryptor to write in ISO mode. However, it only plays on my PC and not my stand-alone (Sony) DVD Player. I need some guidance please, Thanks. Homer232
how about simply using the Nero Burning Rom. open your nero burning rom, choose dvd video and add all the files from your 'VIDEO_TS folder' which is on your hard drive to the 'video TS' folder on the nero burning rom and burn. all things being equal, you should be able to play it back on your dvd player.
@ scf_au, that's true too. i guess it just all depends on how comfortable 'homer' is with the whole nero itself. normally i use nve or nero recode or nero burning rom, depending on the size of the file and how much editing i have to do. cheers anyway.
Thank You all for your suggestions. For some reason I couldn't locate the Nero burning ROM on my hard drive so I ended up downloading the demo version 7 to get it. I was successful in using this nero burning rom and it was quite easy after reading the guide at http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/burning_dvd_with_nero.cfm Though I have yet to try the Nero Recode method, I will go ahead and upgrade from the demo version to the official version 7. Thanks again for your responses. -Homer232
