hey guys, im trying to join 3 separate avi files into 1 big one. the first two go together perfectly well but the 3rd file is from a different source so it is causing me many problems, when i open the first two files, they just open normally but when i append the 3rd segment it give me a message saying 'the video streams have different data formats' from using the search button i found out that this means that the 3rd avi file is in a different resolution, so i re-encoded it using winavi and made the resolution the same as the other 2 - 608 x 272 but it still gives me the same error message with virtual dub mod. i even changed the four cc code of the 3rd avi file so it matches the other 2 but still no joy, this is what gspot tells me: the one on the left is the 1st and 2nd file and the other one is the problem 3rd file, please can someone help me because as far as gspot tells me the resoution is the same, also i hear that virtual dub also can encode the file with filters so that it is of the same spec as the other file, can someone also show me how to do this thanx in advance
Resolution is very important, but they both need to use the same codec Even though you changed the fourcc code, it looks like that didn't help.
thats not the problem, even before i changed the four cc code i had this problem , im askin for a solution to join my files, or if virtualdub can re encode them so theyre all the same, id show you the picture of gsopt but i cant get it to work above,
Yeah, I realize. The codecs are different, and once you actually change the codec that #3 uses it will work. Changing the fourcc code just did nothing for you, and the problem is still there.
yes i know that but it was just a side note for anybody who wanted to know, if it really did make a difference, id know, that is not the issue right now, it hasnt and probably will not make a difference if i change the four cc code to my name (that was a sarcastic remark please dont reply telling me that this will stop the file working at all.) do you have any idea how i can chnge the resolution, is the resolution the pixel thingy, the 608 X 272 because iv tried re encoding the avi with the same resolution as the others but it still wont work, i just wish i could show you the picture so that you would understand, do u know how to make the picture work
I see the pic, it's just way too small to read. So, I will say this one more time CHANGE THE CODEC. You have tried changing resolution, you have tried changing the fourcc code, and didn't work. You need to save out the #3 file to a new file that HAS THE SAME CODEC as the others. If you don't know how to do this, fine, but don't say it's not the problem when you haven't even tried.
oh shit i thought changing the fourCC code is changing the codec, oh well silly me, so then how would i go about changing the codec, and how can i make the picture bigger,
