Some games won't work on my xbox, but will work on my friends unmodded box. I first noticed the problem with halo 2. It would get to the start screen and when I pressed start (a or etc) it would freeze. However, I found that this only occurred when I had a lan cable plugged into the xbox. So when I unplugged the cat 5 cable, I could boot halo 2 and then plug it in for system link play. Weird huh? However, I wasn't so fortunate with other games like First to Fight, Burnout Revenge and others. When I tried to play them, it would get to the start menu it would have locked up on its own or once I pressed a button it would lock up no matter what. The same game disc worked for my friend though. All of which I am referring to is trying to play the actual disk. It does this when I boot the retail (kernel) bios or when I use evox bios etc. I've been told it may be the bios that im running, a dashboard, or some software that I have on the xbox. I still don't understand why it wouldn't be working when I tell the mod chip to boot with the retail kernel (microsoft xbox bios). If anyone has a solution or a suggestion please let me know.
Hey, I am having a similar problem. When I put in Madden 2006 my modded xbox freezes at the xbox logo... Other games seem to work fine, but this happens with madden using both the retail kernel and the M8. Any ideas on why this would be happening????
Do you have TSR enabled in evox settings? If so, turn it off. Try turning off IGR also. EDIT: Also, best to keep your network cable unplugged until you want to play live, just incase. Wouldn't want to get banned by accident.
@wave5...I had the same problem too on my brothers box,but with a different game. He was having troubles with splinter cell chaos theory,and it turned out being his M8 bios. Just didn't like it...so I reflashed his box with the xecuter2 4981.67 and haven't had a problem yet. I'm not saying go and reflash your bios,but if your mod method will use the bios....then it's an option. Although I must say that alot of EA games are having crazy problems ATM....so be patient.
Hey, @Irshdrunk... How do i disable TSR and IGR. Are these changes to be made to the actual bios thru xbtool? @wave5... I am curious did you delete the whole E cache? Is this safe to do? @punqewe... I got a 1.6 version xbox so the only bios is M8 for me. By chance do any of yall have the ice chip? Also since some games are recognizing that my xbox is modded, will xbox live also catch me? I am going to get it in a few weeks and don't want to get banned. Thanks, for your help!
@Irshdrunk... Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I found the settings TSR and IGR. Currently they are set to 0 and No. So i assume both are disabled/off. Should I turn TSR to 2(debug)? I also read something about switching the region. from default to NTCS (North America). Any suggestions? Could you paste your *evox.ini* file code in this text so I can see what it looks like.
