I am new to the dvd burning game. I use dvd shrink to compress my files. I save them in iso format and then try and burn them using dvd clone. Its a new computer with a DVD+ and DVD- burner but the dvdrom is a DVD- drive. I bought 50 sony dvd+R discs. THe process works fine until I go to play them. One movie plays perfectly fine for 5:29 and then freezes and another movie plays for 11:29 and freezes. Please tell me I didn't just but 50 coasters. Any suggestions? Also I don't have Nero

    Question for you ......

    1. Are you doing anything else on the computer while you are backing up your movie?

If so then that is your problem ...... once you start your movie thats it back away and leave the puppy be till she is done ..... do not multy task

    2. What speed are you burning at?

Keep it to 4 x max and maybe try a little slower, 2x if you have more problems.

    3. Did you apply labels to your dvd's ?

Labels ahve caused allot of problems for allot of people ...... next time try your movie without a label first and see if it plays through.

If you think it is your burning software then get the trial of Nero I tyhink it is good for 90 days.

Go to your burner manufacturers website and update your firmware for your burner. Try this and see what happens.

Read the rules - no posting the same question across multiple forums.

In addition to bassnuet's questions - what brand of DVD media are you trying to burn to?

Also try the media in some different standalone players (friend's etc.)

Bassbut-I burned them at 4X and no I don't use labels. I went to download a trial of nero but i couldn't find one except for updates.

Colw- Are you asking what device im playing the dvds with, because I've tried Media Center, Windows Media player, plus just a normal dvd player, and both the DVD rewritable and DVD rom drive
as for other stuff I said "dvd shrink to compress my files. burn them using dvd clone sony dvd+R discs 4.7 GB"

    schlitz4 ,
D/L DVDinfoPro(free) and do a CRC test on the media you have burned. It should tell you f you have any media burning errors.

    Trial Offer for Nero Ultra:
    http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero6-ultraedition.php

If you are using Shink then why not use DVDDecrypter to burn the .iso automatically to DVD. The program is free and does a wonderful job
