    Hi,

I'm having low volume noises when playing and AVI file with MPEG-1 layer 3 audio (0x55), the video is file.
I have tested the codecs using Gspot, and even tried using VLC as a player but with no use.
The setup is a new installed windows 7 OS, creative SB X-Fi titanium fatally pro.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Is the problem only when playing AVIs with MP3 audio?..Did you create the AVIs or ?..The proper way to try and fix would be to de-mux the audio from the AVI, normalize with an audio editor and re-mux back with something like VirtualdubMod, for instance..There's AviDemux which you can import the AVI in question and apply volume gain, save a new AVI..
This question is probably best answered in the Divx/Xvid forum..

Well, the file plays perfect on my other desktop (XP 32).
I also recall it worked on this one (the one with the audio problems) but from some reason it stopped, may be due to some install done while setting up the system.

Sounds like a codec/driver issues with Win 7..Check around the Win 7 forums, I'm sure you'll find others with similar probs..I've not upgraded to Win7 yet..Good luck!..
