I got a pair of VR2s (towers) to go along with my Denon 987 and VRC (center). So I am new to component audio, but I understand how to do the basic hookup. When I hooked up the VR2s to my receiver and ran the autosetup they both sounded muffled. I checked the hookups and they are hooked up exactly the same way as the VRC so I don't know why they wouldn't work.

So long story short, the center works, but the VR2s are very bass heavy and muddy. Anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be? Thanks.

Make sure your positives and negatives are lined up right as far as your speaker wires. I'm not familiar with that receiver, but check the treble control to be sure it's up enough.

Actually the speakers may be faulty too. The tweeters may be blown. Does your center channel sound normal?

On the set up, for bass management, there should be speakers bass large and small (for optional subwoofer) try changing between the large and small settings to see if that helps.

Thanks guys for the quick response. It actually turned out to be that the speakers internal wiring was switched. So the outside said + but it needed the -. I read some other posts on other boards and said that this isn't that uncommon. So I switched them and the speakers sound amazing. Silly Boston Acoustic.

No, I had read on other boards that sometimes the wiring can be switched internally. So the advice was just to switch the wires when I put them in the binding post. So I put - to +, and + to -. When I first read that it could be internal wiring I just laughed and thought it couldn't possibly be that big of a goof by BA. But it turned out that was exactly what it was.
