does your daughter have a cheap cd player? I had a $15 job and I have to lay it on it's backside to get the laser to pick up the disc info on burnt cds, maybe using good quality media or reducing the burn speed will help

can you provide a little more info as we dont know what type of machine you are using to play your compilations on or what type of disc that you are using to burn to.

Age is also an issue. How hold is the device being used?

It is called the classic, a cd/radio player, about 4 years old and relatively in good condition. my daughter doesn't abuse it but when I do cd's, they played on my dvd player and one will not played in my car. It is crazy because I can't get one cd to play on everything.
