I am hoping that someone will help me!

I just purchased Roxio Toast 6 Titanium (much to my dismay I see that Toast 7 is being released today) and want to know what else I need to make backups of a couple of my favorite dvd movies. I have tried to do some research and I have already downloaded mactheripper. What else do I need to make this work?

From what I understand now, maybe I should have purchased Roxio Popcorn instead to do both compressing and burning?! Or Toast 7 will do the whole job too? Or am I better off purchasing DVD2one?

Ugh, help! I'm so frustrated. Will someone please give me some insight and/or advice?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I would have suggested nero over roxio. 2 main reasons 1) roxio and nero do not coencide well on the same pc. 2) You can download and use dvd shrink (freeware) to compress and edit a dvd9 to fit onto a dvd5 and it can be set up to automatically utilize nero as the burning utility. You can still use dvd shrink with roxio but you will need to save the folder to your hdd and then burn it with roxio. You can also set up dvd shrink to use dvd decrypter (also freware)to burn an ISO created by dvd shrink. I recommend downloading dvd decrypter anyway since you will probably need it to rip the dvd to your hdd and break css encryptions. Here are some good guides. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/petesguide2.html

Thanks for the thoughts so far! I know I'm totally new at this.... Maybe I should have specified that I am using a G4 powerbook with MacOSX Tiger.

Mort81, none of those programs are familiar to me.....are they for pc's?

I have the ripping software (mactheripper) and the burning software (Roxio Toast 6).... I am looking for advice/suggestions on the which type of compression software to buy. Popcorn, DVD2one, or the new Toast 7? Anyone have any good or bad feedback about any of these?

*I am using mac osx tiger, g4 powerbook.

Thanks again for the help so far!

Good news guys! Because my purchase of Roxio Toast 6 has been so recent they are allowing me to upgrade to Toast 7 for the difference in the purchase price (about $20). And supposedly I should be able to compress and burn with Toast 7!!

I will record my results and post them in a few weeks after I'm able to form an opinion. That may save some people some time and money either way.
