1st off you need to give us some more infomation. We cant pick whats wrong as you question is a bit vague.

Lets start with what your pc stats are?
what software you are using for backing up your multimedia?
    what encoders you have installed?
what burning application are you using?
when it crashes do you recieve and error message?
are you using an application that when burns will give you a log file.If so can you produce it in full with out your serial numbers?
Lets see what media are you using?
ummmmm does it crash at the encoding or during the burn?
what are you doing during the encoding with your pc?

still waiting for you to answer all questions preferably in point form.

You will find that encoding / burning can take up to 100% of system resources so if you are doing other tasks while you are attempting this function then your computer will slow down and if you dont have enough ram then your project will more likely error out and your end result is a coaster. As you will probabbly exhausted your physical memory reserves

Run Nero Infotool, and give us your system specs please.

Have you checked your drives setting to make sure that you are using DMA and not PIO?
