i have used nero burning rom successfully many times before with none or solvable problems but this latest one has me stuck! Im trying to burn to disc and everything goes great until nero reaches the estimated time of burning, instead of finishing like usual it keeps going, and i mean like for ages the remaining time just goes up and up and my system box makes funny noises and then when i stop the burning i cant get my disc out. Nero doesnt report any errors and all files are fine, the first time it got to about 25% and then froze and the second time it got to 70%. please please help!!

wow, that sounds pretty bad. I don't think it's software related, but it's still best to start there before jumping into the hardware realm. Check out DVD Decrypter for software. Whatever programs you use to encode your DVD (DVD Shrink allows you to do it), tell it to make an ISO image and try to burn with Decrypter.

Also what kind of media are you using? Check out a program called DVD Identifier (dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/) and find out who really made your discs, it could be quite different than the name on the disc itself. From there they have a link to a site that compares and reviews different media. Quite a helpful tool if you ask me.

I have a similar problem to Magicharm.
But I get a burn error "Burn Failed at4X ..." I am able to get my disc out. I don't think my could be a hardware problem though because when I try to burn the first episode it worked but not the others.
Hopefully someone can help solve this problem.

@Magicharm - pls post [bold]minus your serial number which usually begins with 1A21 or similar[/bold] your Nero log, it's in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log. Only paste the last section.

@aNiMeyeah - same from you pls... and the squizzler and maybe me, can get you sorted again

    Thank you so much Creaky
I thought about looking for updates but never did.
So I burn the first episode of a anime series and it came out nicely.
But when I try to drag the other episode, which I already converted using DVD Shrink, into the Video TS I get a message that says "A special entry already present on the target location"
So does that mean that I can't have duplicate files. They are different episodes.
    Thanks again

you mean you're doing separate discs and you want to go to a separate disc for each ?. if so then you just need a different directory, as the error is saying :)

i've only done that with AVI files, and even then i used DVD2One to merge the films together (i only did 3 movies max to one disc using that method)

So is there any other program that will let me merge them together?

sorry i'm being feeble. i should have added that i can't think of anything off the top of my head. i don't recall any posts that do what you want, sorry. i'm sure someone will pop by who has done this before.

The nearest thing i've done is 'flipper' disks, ie the old fashioned dvd's where the movied was split over sides of a disc.
Or episode discs where a few episodes are on one disc and i've copied the whole disc to another disc, with low compression (ie for 60's kids programs where the quality was low anyway)

I just read an article where someone had that same problem because they had multiple files named video_ts.ifo.

What you need to do is use Shrink in reauthor mode and compile all your DVD files together and make just 1 output movie. You cannot burn multiple DVD movies (meaning multiple VIDEO_TS folders) to 1 disc. Try that and hopefully you should have no problems. Check the guides I have listed in my sig for help if you need it.

    Hopefully it will work.
