Okay, I have a really weird problem. I have tried backing up to movies and what happens is when I put them in my computer and try to use any programs to either decrypt the movie or just plain watch it, my computer totally locks up. The two movies are the River Wild and Friday the 13th: part 3. It's like the computer doesn't even recognize that there's a disc in the drive. I've tried the following things already to solve the prob; yet these didn't work, play the movie, clean the disc, just plain try to open it up w/ a program, etc.--each time I try anything w/ the disc in the drive, my computer doesn't even recognize it's in there, and it also freezes with the disc in the drive. And no, it is not a bad disc.........I looked plenty of times to find just a single finger print, yet both looked perfectly clean.
Do they work in a standalone DVD player, or another computer's DVD player, just to see if there might be a problem with your burner/DVD-ROM? Are these DVD's brand new? Rich
No, there is not a problem with my burner, they play just fine in a standalone DVD player. Although, I'll see if I can find another computer to maybe burn it on; that will be hard to do, though. Thanx.
some PC burners dont like certain media, i had a sony that wouldnt recognise certain media brands. do you have any other media that you know works that you can try backing up the movie on?
sorry i think i misread, are theses the original discs that it is not reading? if yes do any other discs work in it?
Why of course, I have a collection of about 100 dvds or more, and the only to that I haven't been able to get the computer to read are The River Wild and Friday The 13th part 3.
Halen5150, So are these discs that don't play copied discs or are they the original discs? If they are the original, they could be from a bad press, can you take them back? Or they could be dirty, scratched, and if so, trying cleaning them with a soft cloth, and windex. Good luck, Rich
