I bought a dualdisc about 3 weeks ago that wouldn't play on my computer - the DVD side would, but the audio side wouldn't. I figured it was because of the new copy protection (I also read the regular version worked fine on the computer - but I opted for the special version). Today, I bought a new album - dualdisc, and the same thing...however, I had my brother try it on his laptop, and it worked - his computer is newer than mine - by a year...

I also have WindowsXP service pack 2 - if that has anything to do with it??

any ideas why I can't play them in my computer? It doesn't register at all - it tries to load - but then it stops and it just shows the drive as being empty.

Did you read the warning on the Daul-Disc (DD) label. Some DDs won't play on all CD players. Its about the thickness of the DDs not compling with the red-book standard. Its not a problem with your hardware its a problem with the discs.

Read the answer to the "Where Can I Play A DualDisc" question:

Dual-Disc is a BS media format,

thanks for the response - that's very odd because I have one that works that I bought about 4/5 months ago - but the latest ones don't work. So, it can work on some pc's but not others I guess...(I did read the label - but I assumed it was ok for me since one did work before) - also, the dvd side plays on ALL of them...so I thought it was copy protection that was keeping me from listening to it.

That proves it isn't because of copy protection(s). Its wierd but some DD (CD side) releases work and some don't. While the DVD side always works.
