i used to surf the internet freely until recently,my laptop seems to be working improperly.my homepages is automatically changed ro www.safetyuptodate.net and cannot be changed back.and then, sometimes, while surfing, the 404 page not found error arise, with a suggestion to use spyware doctor to clean up the pc.i think the adress automatically change to www.404dns.net when it happen.i used to use avast antivirus, and the results said something like my laptop is infected wit win32:zlob-BM,win32:fakealert and some others.the laptop slows down, and sometimes hang.
    When i run yahoo!anti spy,it detected some other things like spyware:netzip,spywarequake 2.0,trojan.win32.startpage.adh .
i know nothing about these things.how do i get myself out of this trouble?

Thats a nasty one. To start with you will need to download some tools to your desktop. It is A smitfraud varient of one type or another. You will need a copy of Hijackthis to run a log so we can see whats going on. You should also download a trial version of Ewido and run it. It is very possable ( probable) your winnit file is also foobared. It isn't a quick fix, and I am not on line enough ( although qualified)to help you as my work is not always at a computer. Any how run the Hijack this scan and save a copy of the file and attach or post with your next message. Also let us know what Ewido finds and delets.

    Cheers

Hi nukeaf, Install Avast back and download firewall too :)

    Download SmitfraudFix.zip to your desktop -> http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip

Unzip it (folder named SmitFraudFix) to your desktop:

Open the folder SmitfraudFix and doubleclick smitfraudfix.cmd
Choose option #1 - Search by typing 1 and pressing "Enter"; a textfile opens and lists the infected files (if those exist)

Post the contents of this textfile to here.

(Some antiviruses recognises process.exe as a malware. It is not malware, it is a program that stops processes)

    Hi nukeaf.

Restart your computer to the safemode and choose your normal user account -> http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

When in safemode, open SmitfraudFix folder and doubleclick the file smitfraudfix.cmd
Choose option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and pressing "Enter" in order to remove the infected files.

You are asked: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove your desktop wallpaper and the infected registry keys.

The tool checks if wininet.dll file is infected. You might be asked to replace the infected .dll (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool might have to restart your computer; if it won't do it, restart your computer back to normal mode.
A textfile will appear after the cleaning process, copy this file and paste it to here.

That log is saved to your local diskdrive, usually C:\rapport.txt.

Warning : Running option 2 in a clean computer will delete your desktop wallpaper.

Post a new HjT log and the contents of C:\Rapport.txt

after turning off the system restore feature,i run a viruscan using avast.things looks fine, except that there are some files that it was unable to scan, located in :
    C:/Program files/Yahoo!/ypsr/quarantine

there are a lot of files which it was unable to scan , all located in this folder.among files are files which ends with spywarequake.exe.

last week , i used yahoo! anti spy to scan my pc.does it has anything to do with that?is my system restore clean now?
