Hello, I am new to the forum scene. I have been having problems with me I/O Magic burner. THe model number is IDVD16DD. It is the Internal Dual format Double layer drive. It supports the media that I use. I am using Verbatim DVD+R. When I insert a blank dvd either windows does not recognize it or i dont know what. It sometimes does though. When it does get recognized an autoplay thing will pop up immediately. The times it fails nothing will pop up except a little cd icon next to the pointer. Also when I open up My computer it will freeze and I will have to use CTRL ALT DEL. THis only happens when I put a blank dvd in the drive. I am totally clueless on why I cant use this feature to my drive. I am using the latest version of nero 6. Please help me out.

Hey thanks for the quick reply, it was very helpful. However, I can not find my drive on the firmware list/ The ID string shows up as DVDRW IDE 16X. I can not find that on the list. The model number is IDVD16DD. Please respond.

Did you do as the page suggests and download a tool to double check your drives model number?

    If not, do it.

Ya i downloaded that tool. Under drive information it had DVDRW IDE 16X. The serial number is AD76FD5E with firmware version A188. I still could not find that match on the firmware page.

Then it seems there is no firmware update for that drive.

Try cleaning the laser with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. Just rub it for ten secs or so with the alcohol end and then 10 secs with the dry end. :)
