    Hi, this is my first post here and I have searched through the forums for answers to my questions, but havn't found anything.

    The problem I'm having is when I launch Nero 7 Premium Burning Rom, before the program starts, I get a crash error window saying:
    "nero.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."

    This only occurs when starting nero Burning Rom. I have tried uninstalling reinstalling, uninstalling, cleaning the registry of possible left over keys from Nero and reinstalling, and nothing has worked. I can't use nero without its main feature!

    I heard that this could be because nero burning rom calls home to check the cd key and if someone has stolen my CD key, then it could cause my nero to crash. How would I disable nero from being able to contact its server, if this is a probable problem (already checked in windows firewall exceptions, not there).

    Another quick question is with the newest Nero 7 premium update. Why does it try to install a demo version on my computer? I didn't pay good money for a demo.

    Thanks for the help,
    Darrin

    Hi Slider821, welcome to the forum.

    It just looks like nero may possily have some corrupted files associated with it, preventing it from running correctly.

    Try this, completely remove nero7 from your system using the nero general cleantool found here (remember to write down your serial# for re-entry later):

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/General_CleanTool.html

    After the uninstall is complete, install the current version of nero7 found here (you should disable any antivirus software before the install to avoid possible problems):

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php#opt2

    Re-enter the serial# which will unlock the program and identify it as the premium edition (if that's what you have).

    As far as this:
    "I heard that this could be because nero burning rom calls home to check the cd key and if someone has stolen my CD key, then it could cause my nero to crash"

    I'm not aware of any such practice by nero.

    When you initially install nero, it will state that it's a nero demo version which is ok, when you enter your serial# this will change, the serial# instructs nero to operate as either an ultra, premium...etc edition.

    Thanks, works. The nero clean tool must have been the thing that fixed it. It works now, thanks a bunch!

    I can safely say that I have the latest Nero Premium 7.0.8.2 and I don't have any bugs. So far everything has worked flawlessly for me.

    @Slider821
    Your welcome, glad I was able to help.

    @alkohol
    I've also been using it for a while now and have not had any issues with it so far, they seem to have gotten this one right.
