I dont know if this has happened to any of you and am interested in figuring out what happened. I recently updated from Nero 5.5.7.8 at the www.nero.com site. I pulled down the updates for Nero 5.5.10.20 and installed it. When I ran the programme I got a message saying "The version of Nero you are using may be a pirated version ... blah blah blah ... click and you can use the demo ..." Interestingly, after I used a serial number on the programme, I havent been able to burn any cds. I lost a few cds because I would keep getting the message saying "Write error - cannot end track." Further I found my Nero had got upgraded to 5.5.10.20 Enterprise Edition. I uninstalled the damn thing and went back to 5.5.7.8 but now that too does not work. I cleaned out all the Ahead and Nero files on my Hard drive in registry and anywhich place and I have tried loading different versions of Nero but the damn thing no longer works on my system. Do you think that once Ahead recognised the update as being linked to a "pirate" version of Nero, some code was put in which would not allow Nero to be run on my computer? I thought maybe my CD writer is screwed up but I burnt as entire audio cd using Acoustica. I guess I will have to reformat my HDD and then run Nero afresh. But is there anyone who can comment on this entire disabling of Nero on my system? Help!
I didn't like the latest 5.5.10.20 version either. Luckily, I was able to uninstall it and reinstall a previous version without much trouble. Digging through the registry looking for "Ahead" and "Nero" must have taken a long time. I know b/c I've done that before too.
Is the serial key you are using legit? If it is, then contact Ahead for support. If not, then buy the fine software.
