My experience was not that bad in terms of having to restart after the first attempt by my friend but he may have clicked too many times cause he said he needed to reboot. But when I came in I was able to get out of each time by closing AnyDVD and manually ejecting the DVD (this 1st was on A64 x2 set with UATA, XP x64 SP1) I also tried the same on Intel D-950, Plexter SATA, Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x86. I could at least close app and eject to try again.

In the end, had to close AnyDVD and open only RipIt4Me (it will prompt you to close AnyDVD anyways) and rip via DVD Decrypter and shrink with Nero Recode cause DVD Shrink (wich RI4M uses later to compress) still would not load my HDD ISO image or DVD files. Recode would open the DVD as file mode from Decrypter but not the ISO from Virtual drive. If only needing full sized DVD 8Gb then ISO to DL disc is fime, it did that but the copy did the same when loaded when AnyDVD was running.

I got it to work. I downloaded DVDFab and bang worked like a charm. I did notice that after the first try and the drive failure AnyDVD stopped auto loading on start up. Your comments about Sony planting a AnyDvd bomb may have some merit.

I suggested the same to anyone else that has the same issue.

Quetion I am still using DVDShrink anything better out there?

My suggestion is that if you have AnyDVD, keep it. Then get both RipIt4Me and DVDFab Decrypter. They're both free. Then become proficient in the use of all three. None of these programs are 100% all the time. I've got all three for my use. Currently RI4M is my favorite, because the others have been having problems with some of the new titles. They're catching up, but they shouldn't have been so far behind. AnyDVD is still acting up with Shrink on some titles.

Best bet is using Ripit4me and DVD Decrypter. I will also backup the Sony-AnyDVD conspiracy theory as I had the same problems. But Ripit4me worked then used DVDShrink and Nero to burn

I'm gonna do that too from now on. However, DVD Shrink still wont open certain DVDs in either ISO or file folder, so need to use Nero Recode for those. Running With Scissors was one of them. It had to be ripped from RipIt4Me & DVD Decrypter in File mode to compress. For most of the good Sony and Dreamworks, Disney stuff, I just leave in ISO and burn to DL, no compression and they look great on a large LCD monitor.

If the files process from the ISO that's all good. However when they won't, and sometimes they won't, the file mode is preferrable. File gives acess to the files for editing and processing for compliance. With the newer copy protections, it's best to use a program like RipIt4Me (which include DVD Decrypter, FixVTS, and DVD Shrink) to do the cleanup and processing in one seamless setup. Once the decrypted and cleaned up files are on the hard drive, they can be used with any program.

Now, in some cases I want to be able to keep all the origional disc material but compress to 4.74G. I notices that even in ISO or file mode that the extra folders are not included when allowed to compress in DVD Shrink or Recode. Often, there's room for the extras, just not included. Ie: in Running With Scissors, folders and files; JACKET_P, AUTORUN, DVD_ROM, GO. Is there a setting in Decrypter that is doing this without me knowing? Snakes On a Plane was another that had extra material. I know it's not needed for the movie but some titles like "Garfield 2" have games and DVD ROM interactive features for the kid and just wanted to know how to include these in the compression process.

How many times have I recommended using RipIt4Me in File mode for movies with heavy copy protection? It seems you've ignored that suggestion and I've made it more than once in threads where you were involved (or was it just multiple times in this thread). Well respected addicts who write guides (such as alkohol, and bbmayo) and others tend to agree. It doesn't have to be RipIt4Me necessarily for the decryption, but File mode so the files can be accessed for processing to take care of problems is necessary. Since RipIt4Me does it all in a seamless process in 1-Click mode, it's hard to beat.

If directed at me you missread the question. Sorry for the confusion, but as I mentioned at least twice so far, I am using exactly that (RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink or Nero Recode). The origonal questional again is; Other than ISO to an uncompressed copy, how can I retain the extra files and or folders (in addition to standard VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS) from origional DVD that are used for either PC games or interactive extras and compress them (shrick) to fit 4.7GB disc? Thankx again!

Well for now I just used Rip4M to recreate DVD files & folders. If compressing is need and I want the disc extras, I simply move to DVD Shrink (it will only shrink the VIDEO_TS folder so I compress with room to add files to project later in Nero Burning ROM. Using Burning, you get to drom files where needed (VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS + .ROMs Intervideo, .EXE, games, etc. or whetever). This worked with title Tenatious Dwich had lots of file extras.

Again, if there's an easier or faster way, feel free to let me know.

Again, this is only if needing or wanting the extra stuff, we all know we can just shrink to get video ts folder.

You're right. DVD Shrink was written for working with video files. That's common knowledge and why the forum is here. It is a decryption, transcoding and editing program. It doesn't burn. It sends the output to supported burners or the output can be sent to the HD and burned from there. The decryption is obsolete, so a secondary program is necessary. That's what RipIt4Me is for.

Audio_TS in a Video is an empty folder, unless someone adds something that wasn't there in the Video. ROM, or DVD ROM is the universal player format for DVDs. That's often the source of the files we use in DVD Shrink. .exe files are program files, not found in video.

If you have a method for compiling various files for a multi format entertainment disc, it would be nice of you to write out the steps and put the guide in the appropriate forum. I don't think highjacking this thread is quite the place. It's not even the right forum. Such activities will get you in trouble with the mods instead if getting thanks.
