I currently use Any DVD to burn DVD files to an external HD. I then use DVD Shrink to make a back-up copy of the DVD. Today I upgraded to 3.2 and started having problems. I tried going back to 3.1 btu still have the same problems. Everything works fine right up until Shrink is about to switch to burning, then it fails. Below is everyhting that comes up with the error. Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

This is not a DVD Shrink problem. Your problem is the actual burning with Nero. Can you post the full log?

    First get rid of Roxio.
What's the name and mid of the discs you're using?
What speed are you burning at?
You may need to update your firmware on this old burner.

Just passing thru, thread teleported to relevant forum.
It would appear that the "message file not found" error means that 'your Nero software failed to install properly or was corrupted by the installation of another software'.

"Use the Nero Clean tool to uninstall the software from your system: http://www.nero.com/eng/Clean_Tools.html

Then install Nero latest version. Don't use your installations disc - download 6.6.0.18 here: http://www.oldversion.com/download.php?idlong=929411d1f7557377569b1b77bc9dd094
Then add your serial number after the installation".

Okay, so I uninstalled my Nero and downloaded Nero 8. That seemed to solve everything unitl I went to watch a movie.

So, I take an original DVD and use AnyDVD to rip it to a hard drive. I save the files to a folder on an external hardrive. At some later point I use DVD Shrink 3.2 to open this folder that is still on my external HD. I then use the back up feature of DVD Shrink 3.2 to make a back-up DVD. Everything seems to work now.

But when I went to play the movie I get an error or nothing at all happens. But there definitely doesn't seem to be an actual movie there.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here? I never used to have any problems at all. And now I have nothing but problems.

What files should be present in the movie's folder on my external HD after I have ripped the DVD using AnyDVD? I have run about 10 movies and every folder seems different.

    For any given film, you will have two folders, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS (AUDIO_TS is always empty);

    example filenames in VIDEO_TS -

    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB

Have you tried previewing/watching one of those movies in DVD Shrink itself ?

    @shaneyb72
I think your problem is Nero 8 - Shrink and Nero 8 do not go together anymore.
The problem is when you have Nero 8 autoburning w/ Shrink - the file structure is off somehow. The dvd will play in the pc which isn't so fussy about file structure, But the dvd player needs a proper file structure to play it.

Do this instead - take those ripped files and use Nero Recode - does the same thing a Shrink but a little better.

So you mean I should use Nero Recode and Nero 8 together rather than DVD Shrink 3.2 and Nero 8? I think I will go try that now. Thanks!

Thanks so much-this worked great. But I have one more question. It says this is a trial version of Recode only and it will expire next week. How do I get a permanent version? I went to Nero's website but it said you cannot buy their products in the US.

Yes you can buy Nero from their website even if you're in the US.

Or just go back to Nero 6 - unless you had an oem version (came w/ the pc or a burner) you should have Recode.
If you go that route - uninstall Nero by using the clean tool then reinstall Nero 6. Nero's site has download links for Nero 6 - you just need package 1 & 2

The version of Nero 6 I had was labelled as a trial, so I assume it came with my PC or burner. So I guess I need to figure out how to buy a real version so that I will have Recode.

Okay since you don't have Recode - here's some other options for Shrink.

Like Creaky said the original error message you received was due to a bad install of Nero.
So go back to Nero 6 - uninstall Nero 8 with the clean tool then download and reinstall Nero 6 - package 1 & 2.
I'd also reinstall Shrink just too be sure.
    All should be good.

You can also autoburn w/ ImgBurn - a good free burning program.
Download & install ImgBurn. Then download this tweak to Shrink - link.
Copy this .exe in th dvdshrink folder. Now when you click backup in Shrink you'll also have an option to burn w/ ImgBurn.
