I recently started copying some of my DVD's to AVI so I can watch them in my quiet time at work as the comp has no DVD drive. I've had no problems up till now, some movies just don't like me.

I've been using the AoA DVD ripper and found it just fine, had no problems copying them just problems with playback. Using the Xvid codec.

Matrix - repeats the main scenes, I've read somewhere that this is one of the most difficult movies to convert, so I understand, it's watchable so all is good.

LotR - I tried Two Towers and RotK. They copy just fine but neither will play, I get no errors at all, loads up just fine but will not start playing, seems to crash the DivX player as well if I try to close it.

Star Wars - Attack of the Clones- This was weird, seems to repeat the first 7-8 minutes of the movie at various times so it looks like I have the whole movie but it's really only 3/4.

    okay...

I figured maybe these movies are dodgey on the copy protection and this is their of telling me I can't do this. In regard to LotR I thought maybe there is a problem with the file size, they are 2.5 odd Gig a piece and if I just do a couple minutes, it's fine, just not the whole thing.

My apologies, I'm new to this, hoping someone can shed some light on the situation.

    Cheers.

    Vas.

Well to me it sounds like your Encodeing software isn"t selecting the Correct VOB files for the Main movie....

Maybe you would have better results if you did this Manually?? Meaning you Rip the Main Movie to your Hard Drive and then convert it to XviD yourself useing one of many AVI converting programs or maybe you can use the Software you have been useing but after you have selected the Correct VOB files from the DVD....
