when i turn my pc on it goes to the screen with options for start with last known config safe mode safe mode with networking and a few others when i click on any of these options pc starts again and goes straight back to this screen ive clicked on all options and same thing happens just goes back to the start up screen i mentioned earlier please help thanks
Have you installed any new software recently? Due you have up to date Antivirus software? If no to 1, and yes to 2, you may potentially have a hardware problem. Do you have your XP CD to hand? You may be able to repair your windows install using it.
i do have windows xp disc but when i start up my other pc i only have to press f11 to go to boot menu however this does not work on the other pc it dosent give a key to press for boot menu can i sort this out in bios
Yes, the order in which the board selects boot devices can be adjusted in the BIOS. It'll probably be under 'Advanced CMOS Features' or 'Basic CMOS Features'.
right i tried and made sure drives in right order when starting up again it says f1 to boot but i get the message pxe-e61 media test failed check cable and cant get xp disc to boot then it goes back to the screen with start in safe mode last known config and just goes back to that screen the pc is an old compaq system
