hi, i just read the forum messages and none sems to help me with my problem, i never had problems with viewing avi files with subtitles so i know i have the programs necessary to do it, but i downloaded an avi movie without subtitles and searched for the subtitles and found some but i noticed that the times are out of synch by opening the file. the subtitle is an srt and is on the same directory than the avi and with the same name but when i try to view the movie it doesn't work, the movie won't play, if i move the subtitle file to another directory the movie plays normally but without the subtitles of course. i really could use some help i tryed to edit the subtitles with subtitle workshop but when i load the movie and the subtitles the program just shuts down, it seems obviously to me that the subtitles don't work with this avi file but why is that? and what can i do fix this? any help highly appreciated
Did you just change or upgrade media players? Are you using VLC to play a .srt subtitle file? Since you have played movies with subtitles before, it sounds like there was a change somewhere. First, [bold]VLC does not support .srt files[/bold], but will play other types of subtitle files. If this is your player of choice, convert the .srt files, or find another player. Try a codec upgrade. Download and install K-Lite Mega Codec Pack v1.53 available here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm Media Player Classic v.6.4.9.0 is a good choice and will use less computer resources than WMP, which is available for download here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/media_player_classic.cfm Windows Media Player 11 Beta is available for download here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ef-2ed1-43db-881f-c9ff337c2e91&DisplayLang=en After the codec and player change (if needed), try playing the video file with the original, unedited .srt file. I hope this works, good luck!
no, my other movies work normally with subtitles just this one is giving me problems, so no change what so ever, i have all codecs needed, i cheked with g-spot. I already converted the movie to dvd with no problems just the subtitles don't show i'm really out of ideas.
Have you turned subtitles on, in VobSub (or whatever application you happen to be running) and/or the media player?
