I have tried various programs to encode and burn a svcd and I can't get it to play in my Philips 701 dvd player. I know my player plays them because it says it in the manual. It tries to read it and then just ejects the cd. I've made heaps of VCD's and they play fine but I can't seem to get an SVCD to play. Any suggestions?
I have a phillips 870 and I find the svcd's play great(they also look 10 times better than vcd). Now my player plays vcd's but they can freeze and skip. What do you use to make svcds?? are you keeping the biterate below 2600??
Some people have reported problems running SVCD's on this player, see the comments by binks120, Eric and Tim Hoban at: http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=253&Search=Search&#comments Sometimes standalone DVD players have compatability problems with certan makes of CD-R/CD-RW media. You may want to try a different brand of media ("you get what you pay for" as far as quality) and also try a CD-RW disk. Also, you could download an SVCD sample from: http://www.vcdimager.org/pub/vcdimager/.testing/svcd_ogt_test_ntsc.zip, burn the image to CD and use it to test. If this image played, than the problem is probably in your encoding procedure.
you guys might want to go to www.vcdhelp.com and look up your players compatibility some times it could be your player plays cd-rw vcd and svcd and not regular cd-r or it could be the media....and you can try burning slower I recomend 4 times if your burner supports it...
