I have been trying to backup this disc for three days using CloneDVD2 with AnyDvd in the background. I have gotten as far as the scanning process and it stops at 95%. I have tried three different discs. The first was from a brand new boxed set and the other two were from two different Blockbuster stores. Each of them have stopped at the same place. I figured that the new one was just a bad press so I tried the rentals with the same results: stopping in the same place. I have also tried DVDdecrypter with no luck. Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions. I am so frustrated and my wife is ready to make my sleep in the computer room. Please help, it gets cold in there at night!!!!

I don't think there should be anything special on this one - older hbo producton right? Are you getting read errors in decrypter? Make sure you have the latest anydvd at least. In decrypter go to the tools>settings>i/o tab. Check Elbycdio - Elaborate Bytes. Sometimes anydvd can cause problems w/ decrypter. You can also try ripping dvdfab decrypter then run the files thru clonedvd.

I have tried all of the suggestions to no avail. I am getting a read error with dvddecrypter at 100%. I also tried dvd fad decrypter to no avail. I think it's odd that all three copies I've tried freeze during the scanning process at 95%.

Yes that is a little odd - same place different discs. Here's a guide to try for those hard to rip dvd's - change some of decrypter's settings:

You can also try cleaning the lens of your drive w/ a lens cleaner. May help the lens read/rip thru these bad spots.

I tried the lens cleaning suggestion with no luck. I'm about to try the Scuba Pete guide now. I'll let you know. Thanks.

Still no luck. Used decrypter and tried to burn the ISO files with Shrink and CloneDVD2 but gave errors that the file was too large even after reauthoring..

I'm suprised both progs say file too large. You could try running it thru shrink 2x. Just set the burn target as a hard disc folder. Then reopen that file in shrink. Depending on how much compression is needed the 2nd time the quality may suffer some. Did you try full back up just in case?

Throwing in the towel. I was able to copy dvd files but the quality was terrible. I am using Sony DVD+R that code as TY so that was not the issue. I signed up for a free trial of Netflix to get the movie from them next week and see it that makes a difference. My town has two Blockbuster stores and I each of the disks stopped in the exact same place. It's wild that the first disc was able to to be backed up with absolutely no problems.

Quick update. Got another copy of this disc and this one froze at 95% during the scanning phase of clonedvd2.
