Hi, I have a problem with my video quality. When I enlarge the movie the quality becomes terrible. It becomes pixely and a little fuzzy. Also I notice when a scene is changed or a character moves ther is a horizontal dash that seems to cut the screen a little. Im using a dell 173fp flat screen monitor 17 inch. I dunno what is the matter, i don't know if there is a problem with my video controller or anything. If you can fix this please post.
you ought to know no email addreses are to be posted as per forum rules above. what is the resolution & colors set at. also try the monitor on another computer or another monitor on that computer to see if still a problem.
i dont have another computer to test it on but i tried changing the color and resolution but it didnt help, also sorry for posting my email address, i didnt know.
Is this a problem you have with all videos or just a certain one(s)? Does the video play clearly when it is smaller? Its likely there isn't anything wrong with your screen. Its probably just a poor quality video.
Are you useing onboard video? My picture sucked when I 1st got my 18" lcd but after I installed a video card it's excellent.
I have a bunch of movies, xvids, dvd rips, divx, and everymovie i play the quality sucks when its big. It is excellent quality at a smaller screen setting. The basic size on VLC works good. I just had to reload windows on my comp, maybe i need a videocard. Mort 81 can u tell me what to do, im not to good with computers.
I'm not a real computer geek and won't advise you on what video card to get. They can range from $25 to $500 or more. The top end cards are for those really into gaming. I would look for a low-mid range card with 128 to 256 mb memory and would probably recommend one with a fan especially if your case doesn't have a lot of ventilation. My card was normally $60 but had a $30 mail in rebate. Nothing special but made all the difference in the world. You could look at newegg or tigerdirect. They have some specials once in a while. You might start a thread about recommendations for a video card in the "other pc hardware" forum. There are others out there much more qualified to advise you than me I'm sure. You need to get the correct interface according to what slots are on your motherboard. Good luck. Mort
When i bought my dell it came with an ATI 128mb card. My friend told me to check my device manager to see of my card was working correctly. It said on my decive manager that my PCI modem, video controller, and video controller (VGA compatible) all have drivers uninstalled. And when i clicked to install them it says i need a cd. I dont know what cd it is referring to, to install the drivers. Does anyone know what thes controllers are or how to fix my situation.

is the motherboard the processor. I have an intel pentium 4 with HT and 3.2GHz. I have 1gb of ram. Im running windows xp sp2 home editiion. I think my video memory is onboard but i dont know how to check. I have a dell dimension 8100.
Do you have the Divx codec installed? If you go to run from the start menu and type in dxdiag. This will tell you what version of driver your using and the make and model of your card. You can also do a couple of tests to see if your monitor is actually working properly.
just did a check on the dell dimension 8100 & comes with a nvidia gforce2 ultra & a speed of 1.3 to 1.5ghz because of socket 423 whereas you state an ati videocard with 3ghz which is either socket 478 or 775.
