I am running Windows XP Professional on an IBM Thinkcentre and I am having a problem. I had an internal SATA 500GB Hard Drive that I was running as via a USB dock. When I installed my Blu-Ray DVD drive Windows renamed the USB docked HD from E: to G: I am not sure why it skipped F: Well, the 500GB got wet, thus making it completely defective. So now that I have removed the G: drive from my system when I try to install OpenOffice 3.1 the computer still thinks there is a G: drive and will not install OpenOffice. I get an Error 1324. I think the registry might think there is still a G: drive but cannot find it. I have tried uninstalling OpenOffice 3.0 and removing all references to OpenOffice that I could find on my computer. But nothing seems to work. I even ran a registry repair program and it did not fix the problem either. I have posted on the OpenOffice.org forums and no one there knows what to do, so I thought maybe someone here would have an idea. Thanks.
There is a bootcd called "paragon rescue kit 9.0 express" it's a free utilty. It works on xp computers. You bootup with it and you can check the hard drives "partition ID's" this is different than the drive letters you see under "my computer". Maybe windows is still seeing the "G" as a "partition ID". With that bootcd program you can remove the "G" or change it to something else in the xp registry. The windows registry has a habit of remembering the ID's of all the drives it encounters. It's a easy program to use, I've used it many times with no problems.

Alright, I booted up on the Paragon Rescue Kit 9.0 and it said G: was free, but H: was in use by "unknown" so I freed up H: but OpenOffice still gives me the same error. I can send you a screen print of the error if you would like. I also tried to play Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary last night (which was previously installed on the G: drive) and when I clicked "play" it did nothing and same when I clicked "setup." It just removed the startup dialog box from the screen and then nothing happened. What do you think?
