when I download from a torrent and the open it with azureus.. but when i try to un rar it with winrar, it tells me " you need to have the following volume to continue extraction:" never had this problem before... and ideas
You get that message when you are trying to extract from a multi part RAR archive, and you have not got all of the parts.
the problem is that i downloaded the same program more then one time. I even have it saved on an external drive. So I get this message on programs I have used before and have saved. I was wondering if it had anything to do with not having enough memory. I do have a few gigs left.
1. I wish you had mentioned what these messages say after the colon. Do they name a volume which is actually there? 2. Are you trying to extract a file such as an iso which is greater than 4 GB, to a FAT32 volume? No can do. Need NTFS. 3. I don't understand why you downloaded the same program more than once. Why? Didn't it work first time? If it worked before but does not now, maybe suspect disk corruption & approaching failure. 4. "Memory" is RAM. Gigs on on a disk is "disk space". You probably mean the seond of these. When you say "a few gigs left" do you mean like 3 GB on a 200 GB drive, that sort of thing? If so, you badly need to make room and you may find your problem goes away.
i think number 2 makes sense. I did re format my pc and I might not be working on fat32 setting. As for disk space. I have a 160 with like 40 left.. I do have to take out a few things. Just got a 500g notebook.. I started to download the same programs because the others stopped working.. So when I downloaded them again from the same site. I got the same message. But I will look into my system and see what's going on... Thanx for the info and i'll up-date you when I'm done.
i am running NTFS... Got pleanty of room.. As for the volume name... I don't see it... But if for some reason the volume is there... what would this mean??
Possibly a corrupted RAR file. Very possibly hard drive beginning to fail, or corrupted downloads. You said, you download these programs (which you do not specify) because they "stopped working". Maybe you should find out what made them stop working? And fix it? Maybe it is now causing you this problem.
i'll explain the whole issue... I have a desktop and a laptop.. I had reformated my desktop.. So I had to re install all my programs... I'm having trouble with Nero... So when I got my new laptop, I tried to install nero... Got the same error... So I did another down load just incase a file was missing or something... Same problem... So what I don't understand is how when I first re formated my desktop, how this problem started to happen.. And on 2 computers... The nero I had always worked... So I downloaded it from another site and it worked... Now I'm trying to download a different program... And I'm having the same problem... So I'm stuck.. That is the reason for the second loading of the program... It's only with nero and now illustrator.. I also want to add, thanx for the time to help me out.. These forums save my life sometimes...
Funny, I always thought that Nero & Adobe Illustrator were programs you have to pay for. If you are downloading them from warez sites, you may be downloading illegally cracked versions. We cannot help you in this case, beyond advising you to a thorough virus check as soon as possible! Sorry if I am misjudging you. I do know that Nero checks online that it has valid serial number. If it fails the check it will disable itself. I would not be surprised if Adobe Illustrator does the same. So that may be why they "don't work" any more.
