    Hello,
I hope someone can help me. I am new to burning DVDs I have CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD, my problem is when I insert a blank DVD-R I always get an error message that there is nothing there to burn to, but if I insert a DVD+RW it burns just fine. Any suggestions? Thanks

Memorex is considered a dirty word around here, usually the dye is CMC MAG and is considered some of the worst around.
I recommend Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.
You could try a firmware update, but I doubt that will help.

What is firmware?...firmware is a tiny bit of instructions, that tells your burner to accept different types of media, or to burn them at the rated speed or faster.

what can you do to use up those memorex?...change your target size in dvd shrink to 4300, so you dont write on the outer edge of the disc, where cheap media often fails....you could also slow down your burn speed to 4x or slower.

The thing about cheap media is that even if you get it to burn for you, it might, and probably will fail in a short time.Don't scrimp on media!!

No clone is a good program,I used the trial version for awhile, but I cant remember if there was a speed adjustment or not.I couldn't even tell you if you can adjust the target size.
I'll pm a friend of mine, and send him to this thread,if you'd like.

On CloneDVD when you go to write your movie it will ask you what drive you want to use there is a box that shows burn speed just select the the speed you want, I use 4x. Also are you sure your burner uses -R media?

Download and install the free program Nero Info Tool

    http://www.nero.com/en/Info_Tool.html

This will allow you to check out your drive. The current firmware for this burner should read BSOS.

Burner firmware is available from the Lite-on site

    http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/English/e_downloads/e_firmware_dvd rw.asp

Just scroll down until you find your drive. I have this drive and I will say Memorex disks are not one of its favorites, try Verbatim they are much better quality and Lite-On likes this media.
