    Hi,

A couple of weeks ago i attempted to install my first IDE Disc drive, as my old DVD-ROM drive (about 8 years old) was past its time. I bought a Sony DRU-800A Dual Layer DVD[+-]RW Drive. Firstly, i installed the drive into the Primary Slave IDE port on my computer. When i tried it out, it read and copied DVD+R discs fine, but when i bought a pack of DVD+RW discs, the drive would turn to a "CD Drive" in my computer, and when i clicked on it it would say that "D: is not accesible". Firstly, i upgraded the firmware to the latest version via Sony's website, but it did nothing.
I thought that the problem may be to do with the fact that it was Primary Slave, as i have heard that WinXP can only support 1 DVD-RW drive.
I then swapped my drives around, including the jumpers. I turned my PC on and now WinXP says the same "D: is not accessible" about DVD+R discs as well as DVD+RW discs. The drive can now and has always been able to read normal movie DVD's.
I have looked on bootup and the screen says that the Sony drive is on Secondary master. I dont really want to re-locate my 2 HDD's and i have numerous programs including iTunes pointing to files on them.

    Whats going wrong.

    I am using:

OS: Windows XP Home Edition SP2.
    HDD: 1 x 80GB, 1 x 15GB.

Thanks for any replies in advance!
