Ok i have these .avi's i want to make vcd's out of. So first i checked out the tutorial on using TMPGenc to convert them into the correct format (link to it is here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm ) After that i ran the mpeg it plays fine. Then i went to open it up in Ulead DVD MovieFactory and it gave me this message: C:\blah.mpeg is not a compliant MPEG file, please select a DVD/VCD/SVCD compliant MPEG file. now i thought that using the TMPGEnc it was supposed to encode it into the correct format, i went ahead and burned the same mpeg on a vcd using nero and it works fine so why does Ulead not like it? The sole purpose for me wanting to use Ulead is so i can make a nice looking menu with background music, rather than using Nero's preset thumbnails and me not being able to figure out how to set background menu music on nero. Anyone have any answers or suggestions? I could use some major help thanks -Skoad
What you should try is to alternate your encoding software. Try using avi2vcd (kazaa) and then open it in Ulead!
I tried encoding with avi2vcd it says : cannot encode because it has compressed audio... now what? EDIT: wait duhh i just found the decompress function will it hinder my sound quality?
More problems~! After decompressing the sound, i ran the avi everything sounded/looked fine. Then i used the avi2vcd thing, 2 and a half hours later its done. Then i ran the mpeg to check it, the sound is COMPLETELY off, its like the movie starts at the beginning but the sound is from 30 minutes into the movie, then theres 20 minutes of no sound at the end. More help/suggestions?
WOW!! 30 Minutes into the movie. Thats very far out of sync!!! What I think you should do is use a bit or reliable software to decompress the audio and there's nothing better than VirtualDUB for the job!! http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/virtualdub.cfm When you get VirtualDUB, open the original video file and do the following!!! 1. Click Video and select "Direct Stream Copy"! 2. Click Audio and select "Full Processing Mode"! 3. Click Audio again and click "Compression"! 4. Click "No Compression" and click ok! 5. Click File - Save Avi. The output avi will have non compressed audio that could be read perfectly by most encoders but it will be twice its original size! I couldn't blame you for being sceptic about using TMPGEnc or avi2vcd again. There are more encoders you can try (eg Panasonic Mpeg-1 Encoder or The Video Capture Tool in Ulead DVD Movie Factory!). Unfortunately, you may have a big problem. The video stream could be damaged. It's like the Tmd Red Dragon, the 1of2 file has some video errors and the sound falls out after encoding to about 35 minutes! I would suggest trying the video capture tool in Ulead DVD Movie Factory!! Good luck and let me know what happens!
i don't get how the stream could be damaged. i was able to convert it in TMPG and burn using nero just fine, i just can't any of the mpegs to work in Ulead.
i also tried using Ulead's capture tool to convert, but halfway through it stops responding.... When i go to decompress the audio with virtual dub it says i will get a 92,000 ms error or whatever. but the vcd2dvd decompressed it fine... this is starting to get hopeless
Well trust me, if VirtualDUB finds an error in an Audio Stream then it's really there so the stream is damaged. This happens to me a lot with downloaded movie files, they're fine for about half/hour and then the audio disappears (after they're encoded!).
